The children have settled in to our class and school routines.
We have a busy week in Reception Class!
Each day we learn and practise letters and sounds to help us with our reading and writing. We follow the ‘Letters and Sounds’ programme, which is supported with resources on our class interactive white board.
We are active learners and are working with numbers up to and beyond twenty. We are solving simple calculations, making repeating patterns and finding out about different times of the day. The children are exploring the ‘Numicon’ resources to help develop a deeper understanding of number, counting and calculation.
Snack time is a very important part of the morning. The children take it in turns to prepare a bread based snack and to prepare the fruit. The children develop social and communication skills by sitting at a table with their friends to share their snack.
We have an easily accessible outside learning environment which allows the children extensive opportunities to have sustained free flow play sessions with open ended resources.
We meet each week with St Joseph’s Pre-School for our Foundation Stage Assembly. We celebrate a simple liturgy and share our achievements of the week.
We enjoy weekly visits to the South Woodham Ferrers Public Library, where we change our own library books and listen to stories read by one of the librarians.
We look forward to the Spring and Summer time when we will access national resources on our school field.
